Our Story
Who we are
Cool 2 Care started the day we learned our son, Bo, was diagnosed with autism. We just didn't know it yet. That diagnosis opened up a world we didn't know yet, the world of disabilities. Like most families in this position, we spent countless hours and late nights researching, reading, and trying to understand what our son actually needed from us.
As his father, I'll admit something I'm not proud of. I spent time trying to shape Bo into the son I'd always pictured growing up, instead of becoming the father he actually needed me to be. It took time, but I learned that lesson, and it changed how I showed up for him every day after. I am trying to be the father he needs me to be.
That lesson became undeniable one morning when Bo fell and was knocked unconscious. We called 911, frantic, watching him lie motionless on the ground. Word must have spread fast, because nearly every first responder in the area showed up. They did an incredible job. Their only focus was making sure Bo was okay, and he was. But in the middle of that emergency, we saw something else too: a real gap between the autism community and the first responders who show up on the worst days.
After Bo got the care he needed at the hospital, we took a step back. That morning had changed something in us. I wanted to make sure Bo was prepared for every future moment he'd spend with a first responder. I wanted him to know, without question, that first responders are the good guys, that in the moment he needs people the most, he can rely on them completely. That's when Cool 2 Care was born.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between the autism community and the communities in which they live, and we do that by fostering trust. We're so glad you're here, and we hope you'll become part of our story at Cool 2 Care.
